Thank You All!

Finding himself in an unusually odd environment for a fluffy bird, Algy selected a handy if rather uncomfortable perch, and opening his beak as widely as he could, he started to sing an ENORMOUS “THANK YOU!” song to all his incredible Tumblr friends who helped to make his 6th birthday so enjoyable yesterday – especially those who submitted wonderful images for his Amazing Tumblr Birthday Party on his sideblog @lovefromalgy, but also the many friends who watched and enjoyed the party, who made kind comments on his own and other people’s posts, and who sent him personal messages, good wishes and congratulations.

Algy was delighted to receive many contributions from brand new friends, who he hopes to know better very soon. But of course he was also thrilled and touched by the fantastic contributions from many of his long-standing friends, some of whom he has know for almost as long as he has been on Tumblr. So he sings at the top of his voice:

THANK YOU ALL VERY, VERY, MUCH!

And he hopes that you can hear him all around the world…

Algy is now looking forward eagerly to his 7th year of adventures, and if you are wondering what he is doing in such a peculiar environment, he suggests that you follow his forthcoming adventure, which is just about to commence… 😀

Friendship Sparkles

Algy has been deeply touched by all the sweet “welcome back” messages and comments which he has received from so many friends around the world since his return two days ago. He can’t help wondering whether any other fluffy bird ever had friends like this before… So he sends you all his very fluffiest hugs and his warmest thanks, and these lines from an Aztec poem:

Like a quetzal plume, a fragrant flower,
friendship sparkles:
like heron plumes, it weaves itself into finery.
Our song is a bird calling out like a jingle:
how beautiful you make it sound!
Here, among flowers that enclose us,
among flowery boughs you are singing.

Algy had been away from Tumblr for a week and very nearly missed this Selfie Sunday, which would have made him feel decidedly glum.

If that had happened, it would probably have been the first PWS Selfie Sunday that Algy ever missed. A sad day indeed…

Happy 5th Birthday, Algy!

The great day has arrived! It is Algy’s 5th Tumblr Birthday.

Algy’s surprisingly fluffy 5th birthday party will start at midday, over on his sideblog @lovefromalgy

It is YOU, Algy’s wonderful Tumblr friends and followers, who have made these five years of Algy’s adventures possible, and YOU who have kept Algy going through good times and bad. Thank you all so very much!

A HUGE THANK YOU to all the thousands of almost-invisible followers who Algy does not really know but who see his posts and leave notes from time to time…

And a VERY SPECIAL HUGE THANK YOU to those hundreds of amazing friends and followers who Algy has come to know and love over the past five years – who frequently “like” Algy’s posts, leave kind comments, and send Algy messages.

To celebrate, Algy is also running a small retrospective of his 5 years of amazing adventures, on his main blog @adventuresofalgy. This was originally planned for just two days, but Algy has now decided to spread it over 5 days – one day for each year 🙂

During the week, the post bird brought Algy a most exciting parcel wrapped up in brown paper, which had flown to him all the way from Regensburg in Germany. He opened it eagerly, and found that it contained a beautiful German Advent calendar card and a packet of his favourite lebkuchen – not to mention some very pretty Christmas paper napkins 🙂

In the short, dark days of December, Algy will have a happy time munching his lebkuchen and opening the tiny windows in his calendar, so he sends his fluffiest thanks and lots of fluffy hugs to his very kind friends in Regensburg. He is extremely grateful for such kindness, and thinks that he must surely be the only fluffy bird on Tumblr to receive such gifts! Thank you so much xoxo

A few days ago, the post bird brought Algy an exciting envelope from Germany. He was astonished! But he was even more surprised when he opened it and found that it contained a beautiful, traditional Advent Calendar card! He was thrilled to see that it had tiny windows to open every day from 1st December until Christmas Eve, and a picture of the Christkind and little angels preparing presents for all the children at Christmas. Algy has never had anything like this before, and he thanks his wonderful German friends @hedminreg and @bk-fundstuecke very much indeed for thinking of sending him something so lovely to brighten up these dark December days. He sends you both lots of specially fluffy hugs xoxoxo

Welcome new followers! Algy is painting a picture for you 🙂

Algy has had a wonderful couple of weeks, with his adventures trending on Tumblr, articles about him in the local press, his books selling locally to visitors to the area, and lots of interest in his adventures generally. So he is reposting this special GIF – one of his all-time favourites – to welcome all his new followers and thank all his loyal friends. Algy is also trying to work on the illustrations for his second book, which is due to be published at the end of November, but he thinks maybe he will have to ask his assistant for some help with that 🙂

Algy got a wonderful surprise when the postbird passed by today – a gorgeous postcard had flown all the way from Salzburg, just for him! It had come from his very kind friends bk-fundstuecke and hedminreg – and the little pink pony 🙂 Algy immediately fetched the little black teddy who knew those friends so well, and together they perched in the hydrangea bush and read all about Salzburg. Algy would love to visit that beautiful city himself one day!
