Algy loves to encourage reading, so here’s a wee challenge for you 🙂
Question 1: How many different types of bird NOT INCLUDING ALGY appear in The Tree with a Golden Heart? Only count species that are actually named, such as “wren”, and not general descriptions such as “seabirds”, and don’t count individuals, just species – for example, if there are 20 starlings in the book (which there are not!) that would just count as 1 type of bird.
Question 2: There is a long poem in The Tree with a Golden Heart which is a pastiche of a very well-known poem from English literature (long out of copyright). What is the title of the original poem which is pastiched, and who was the original author?
Question 3: In The Tree with a Golden Heart, only a very special medicine can help Algy’s sick friend. What are the ingredients of that special medicine – be careful to be precise!
Question 4: At one point in the book, Algy encounters a false guide. What kind of creature is the false guide?
Question 5: What is the FAMILY name of the mice in The Tree with a Golden Heart? Ignore the prefix “Wee” which applies to the names of all the mice. (In English the family name appears after the given name – for example, the family name of Jane Smith is Smith.)
