Happy Birthday Algy !!!

The morning of Algy’s birthday was rather dull and damp, and the Scotch mist was hovering over the hills, threatening to make the world a great deal damper, but Algy didn’t care. It was his birthday, and time to celebrate…

As all his friends know, Algy is a mature and discerning fluffy bird who delights in reading poetry, but he also loves toys, so he was thrilled to find many colourful and silly things to play with among his birthday gifts 🙂

Today the Tumblr gods worked some of their amazing magic, and Algy suddenly found that he had a large number of new followers from all around the world. He was utterly astonished and delighted, and so naturally he immediately had to do a special Happy Dance 🙂

Owing to an unusually fine, dry spell of weather in the West Highlands, the cherry blossom lasted much longer than it had in previous years, and it put on a splendid display. Algy was fascinated to discover that the flowers, which had started pure white, began to turn pink as the the days passed and the petals did not fall. He perched happily in the midst of the blossom, and under a sky almost as blue as that of California he sang a special fluffy version of “Happy Birthday” for his friend @qbn-scholar, who lives in that faraway land 🙂

Dear Fern, Algy hopes that you will have a wonderful birthday, and he sends you lots of beautiful cherry blossom and fluffy birthday hugs xoxo

It’s Algy’s birthday! Happy Birthday Algy 🙂

On the morning of his birthday, Algy’s assistant brought him a basket of pretty spring flowers. As he sat on the damp grass looking at them, a bright green frog jumped out and landed on his leg. Algy was astonished! But his assistant explained that this very special visitor had been sent by a dear friend especially for his birthday, and that this beautiful frog would keep him company and bring him luck from now on 🙂

Algy has been overwhelmed by the kindness of all his wonderful friends and he thanks you all very much indeed for all your lovely tributes, posts and messages on the occasion of his birthday – and for all your support for his adventures over the past four years. It has been an amazing experience and Algy hopes that he will be able to continue to share his adventures with you for many more years to come. He sends you all lots of exceedingly fluffy hugs xoxoxo

While Algy was on holiday in July, he spent a happy time among the aromatic bog myrtle of the peat bogs, lazily watching the cotton grass blowing gently in the wind. As he reclined there in the sunshine, he thought of one of his oldest friends, who – as it happens – celebrates her 86th birthday today, and for her sake he recited one of her favourite poems:

         There is no dusk to be,
             There is no dawn that was,
          Only there’s now, and now,
             And the wind in the  grass.

          Days I remember of
             Now in my heart, are now;
          Days that I dream will bloom
             White peach bough.

Algy has found a very big “bunch” of flowers for you, and hopes that their gorgeous fragrance will be carried on the wind to you, all the way from the West Highlands of Scotland to California :)) He is singing “Happy Birthday to You!”.

And just in case you are worried, Algy would like to reassure you that one of his closest friends celebrated his 60th birthday recently, and doesn’t seem to be any the worse for it 🙂

With lots of very special fluffy hugs, Algy says “Have a wonderful day, and many, many more happy, healthy years ahead!”.

Many of Algy’s Tumblr friends know telescopical – the wonder blog that reblogs our original work to tens of thousands of people who would not otherwise see it. And very, very many of us here on Tumblr are profoundly grateful for telescopical’s amazingly warm-hearted support, endless encouragement and constant reblogs.

In reality, telescopical is Kara, and today is Kara’s birthday. So Algy sat on a rock and sang “Happy Birthday” to Kara as loudly as he could, hoping that his voice would carry all the way across the wide ocean to Canada. Dear Kara, may your future be forever bright with a constantly glowing light on the horizon, and may every day sparkle and shine for you, like the reflections on the water that Algy loves so much. Have a wonderful birthday, Kara, and a truly wonderful life xoxo

On either side of the pass the mountain sides rose up quite steeply, until they vanished into the low clouds which drifted constantly along the ridges. Everything was dripping and soggy from the mist, so Algy perched rather awkwardly in a young birch tree, to avoid soaking his feathers on the wet ground. It wasn’t exactly raining, but then, on the other hand, it wasn’t exactly not raining … “And that’s the West Highland summer for you,” Algy grumbled to himself.

Algy thought of all his friends far away, and particularly of his special Tumblr friend Ted in the USA, who celebrated his 40th birthday a few days ago, and who seems to love the Scottish Highland landscape. Algy sends you a big fluffy hug and late congratulations on your 40th birthday, Ted – and a thousand thanks for all your support and encouragement, and your reblogging of his adventures on the excellent LuxLit 🙂 May you have many, many more happy years ahead, and make many more wonderful images :))

Today, one of Algy’s closest and oldest friends celebrates his 86th birthday!
So Algy looked carefully through all his poetry books, and found this special poem to bring his friend extra luck on his birthday and in the year ahead xxx

         I know a place where the sun is like gold,
             And the cherry blooms burst with snow,
          And down underneath is the loveliest nook,
             Where the four-leaf clovers grow.

          One leaf is for hope, and one is for faith,
             And one is for love, you know,
          And God put another in for luck—
             If you search, you will find where they grow.

          But you must have hope, and you must have faith,
             You must love and be strong – and so—
          If you work, if you wait, you will find the place
