One of the illustrations from Algy’s new book, The Tree with a Golden Heart 🙂

This is especially dedicated to Algy’s friend @parenthese63 because she recently lost the tree in which the “rouge gorge” sang to her. So Algy asked me to send her this robin to sing 🙂

Algy likes this one, because the robin is singing to him 🙂

The weather had turned very chilly, so Algy decided to fly back to the woods, where it was considerably more sheltered than on the exposed coast. In between showers of hail and sleet, there were moments of bright sunshine, and despite the brisk, northerly breeze, it was pleasant perching on a branch beside the waterfall, watching the constant stream of water tumbling down in never-ending motion.

Algy wishes you all a happy and peaceful weekend, well sheltered from cold winds xoxo

adventuresofalgy:

It was Earth Day, and a huge wave of dense white mist was rolling in from the sea again. Soon it would cover everything, and both land and sea would be obscured. Algy perched at the edge of the dunes, watching the mist approach, and wondering whether human beings would manage to avoid destroying their own home. Their ways bewildered him; all he could do was hope for the best, because he rather liked the Earth himself. As he felt the first cold droplets of the mist tickle his feathers, he thought of a poem by a particularly talented and thoughtful human, Mary Oliver:

Somewhere
    a black bear
      has just risen from sleep
         and is staring

down the mountain.
    All night
in the brisk and shallow restlessness
         of early spring

I think of her,
    her four black fists
      flicking the gravel,
         her tongue

like a red fire
    touching the grass,
      the cold water.
         There is only one question:

how to love this world.
    I think of her
      rising
like a black and leafy ledge

to sharpen her claws against
    the silence
      of the trees.
         Whatever else

my life is
    with its poems
      and its music
         and its glass cities,

it is also this dazzling darkness
    coming
      down the mountain,
         breathing and tasting;

all day I think of her—
    her white teeth,
      her wordlessness,
         her perfect love.

[Algy is quoting the poem Spring from the collection House of Light by the contemporary American poet Mary Oliver.]

Blog recommendation of the week

Follow-up exhibition

PWS – Pop Up

Algy is so thrilled to see his adventures being featured on @pws-popup as a follow up exhibition to the PWS recommended blog feature. He can remember every single adventure that PWS have chosen to show, and they bring back many happy memories, so he will reblog his favourites from the pws-popup exhibition during this week 🙂

Although he knew perfectly well that he shouldn’t, Algy could not resist taking just a wee tiny bite of the glowing toadstool. No sooner had he swallowed it than the forest began to spin round and round, with Algy at its centre. He fell back helpless on the soft forest floor, unable to do anything except watch the whirling trees and strange colours…
