The snow melted away almost as quickly as it had arrived, and by the afternoon of the next day there was no snow left at sea level, although the peaks of the hills inland were still white. It was a fine, sunny day, and the world was full of colour again, so Algy flew back to the lighthouse and found himself a sheltered spot near the water, where he could relax on the rocks in the sunshine, and watch the sea swirling all around him.

Algy knows that many of his friends will have a long holiday weekend ahead, so he hopes that you will all find a pleasant spot to relax in, and have a happy and very fluffy time 🙂

When Algy woke up on Thursday morning he got a wee surprise; it looked as though the weather gods had mislaid their calendar… He was sure that it was the end of April, but there was more snow falling than he had seen at any time during the winter. Algy flew quickly over to his assistants’ house, to find his tartan shawl and tam, and then perched in a bush in their garden, watching in amazement as huge flakes of heavy, wet snow kept flopping down on his head…

Algy dedicates this post especially to his friends at PWS @photosworthseeing, in honour of their special April event for spring 🙂

On St. George’s Day, Algy tries to take special care of dragons, to make sure that they come to no harm. As he flew over the great sea loch, he noticed that a spiny sea serpent was struggling to make its way back out to sea against the tide, so Algy watched from the stony beach to make sure that the dragon managed to return safely to the ocean 🙂

Algy flew over to the other side of the lighthouse rocks, and was surprised to find that there were many clumps of primroses growing among the rough grass there, despite the very exposed location. There was also a fine view of the Small Isles of the Inner Hebrides, so he tucked himself down comfortably among the flowers, keeping as low to the ground as possible to avoid the worst effects of the bitter wind, and gazed out far across the sea…

The day had been mainly fine, and Algy had decided to fly out to the lighthouse, where he could gaze far across the sea in many directions, and take deep breaths of exceedingly fresh air…

He perched on the mass of rock near the lighthouse tower and gazed into the west, where the sea often shone with a beautiful silvery light. The dark shadow of a great bank of cloud was beginning to cross the water from the low island on the horizon, but for the moment he was still in the hazy sunshine…

Algy is delighted to announce that this image – Algy Brightens the Shadows in Life – is the very first photo portrait of him to be made available on a range of products in his assistant’s Redbubble shop.

So carry Algy with you, to brighten the shadows in your life – a fluffy bird shining on your iPhone or iPad case, notebook, T-shirt, tote bag… or even hanging on your wall 🙂

All purchases help Algy to continue his adventures.

Algy perched close to the water, watching each wave as it rolled in and splashed on the rocks around him. No two waves broke in the same way, and it was impossible to guess what the next wave would do. Sometimes a whole series of smaller waves followed one another, scarcely managing to splash at all, and then a much larger one swept in and sprayed him with a shower of salty water. Algy was fascinated by the unpredictability, and time flew past quickly. But it was impossible to play this game for extended periods, as the tide was always changing. Just now it was going out and – as Algy watched – the waves withdrew, so that after a while they no longer splashed him at all. But Algy didn’t mind, because he knew that the tide would soon turn, and the waves would return to splash again…

Algy hopes you are all enjoying a peaceful and relaxing Sunday just watching the waves, either literally or metaphorically 🙂

It was a fine spring day, but a strong, bitter wind from the Arctic was howling across the dunes, and the air temperature felt like the middle of winter. Fresh white snow had covered the peaks of the islands to the north during the night, but Algy turned his back on the wintry scene and snuggled down into the warm, sandy grasses in the sunshine, making sure to stay on the side on the dunes that was sheltered from the wind. Overhead the skylarks were singing, but they couldn’t maintain their positions for long in the wind, and they kept dropping back down to the ground, only to try ascending again…

PAFBWS – Photo(grapher)s And Fluffy Birds Worth Seeing

Algy sends his fluffiest thanks to the wonderful people at @photosworthseeing for all the hard work you do each and every day to share wonderful photos with us all, and especially for the effort you put in to the Selfie Sundays, which so many people – and one surprisingly fluffy bird – enjoy so much. Once again there have been some truly amazing Selfies on PWS this Sunday – Algy thinks the Selfie Sundays are just getting better and better 🙂

Algy sends lots of very fluffy hugs to you all xoxoxo

Algy perched on a rock and admired his reflection in the thin film of water which the receding tide had left to cover the damp sand. He was in high spirits, as his assistant had just made her first sale featuring Algy’s image on Redbubble, so he opened his beak and sang a happy fluffy bird song to the seagulls and other sea birds who were going about their business on the beach.

Algy wishes you all a very happy Sunday, and hopes you will have good reason to sing a happy song too 🙂
